How to become an official “Linkedin Certified Professional Recruiter”

Have you already heard about the exam you can take to become an official “Linkedin Certified Professional Recruiter”? Anyone who is working in the recruitment sector (e.g. sourcers, recruiters, talent acquisition professionals, headhunters, executive recruiters, HR generalists or coordinators) has the opportunity to gain an additional credential for their professional career. The benefits you will gain are manifold: you can show that you are a specialist in candidate recruitment by using Linkedin Recruiter, you will learn to hire the right candidate quicker, you increase your knowledge and credibility and other colleagues and business partners will perceive you as a trusted advisor.

There are three steps that one will have to take.

# 1 – Get familiar with “Linkedin Recruiter” and gain at least 6 months of experience in using it. Furthermore, you will also need to gain at least 1-2 years of work experience in a recruiting role.

# 2 – Prepare for the exam. You can do that in two ways: a) studying by following the certification curriculum and using various online resources such as tutorials, webinars and tip sheets and b) practicing by applying your skills in your daily recruiting activities. If you have a look at the exam objectives you will get a good idea as to what you can expect. The exam will test your skills with regard to: identifying and engaging talent, building a talent pipeline, posting jobs, and maximizing efficiency using Linkedin Recruiter.

# 3 – Register for and take the exam which you can either do online or onsite at a testing centre. You can create a test taker account at www.webassessor.com/linkedin.

The exam is offered in English and the length of the exam is 90 minutes. You will need to answer roughly 60 to 70 questions (multiple choice questions with single or multiple responses, matching, and free response). You will find out instantly after you complete the exam whether you passed or not. If you succeed in the exam you will get the exam results, receive your certificate, logo and wallet card by email. A unique link will also be sent to you which allows you to add the certification to your Linkedin profile. If you want to join the Linkedin Certified Professional group you will be given the option to do so. But bear in mind that this certification needs to be retaken every 2 years in order to keep displaying the Linkedin Certified Professional logo and participate in the Linkedin Certified Professional group.

You might surely want to know how much the exam fees are. Well, you can pay for it (199 US Dollars or 99 US Dollars in India) during the registration process with any major credit card. In case you don’t pass the exam remember that you can retake the exam after 14 days but you would have to pay the same amount again.

Would you like to know what the experience and the results of another company has been so far by getting certified? Here is Bryan Rice, Director, Global Talent Acquisition at Stryker who said “In Q3 2013, we added training and certification to our on-boarding process, the team took the exam by end of 2014. We got a 40 % increase in the #Hires from Recruiter within one year, 70 % increase in the second year.” Now it’s your turn to challenge yourself and get certified too.
